In 1993, for the US Open, I was staying at the home of my fellow tour player Marlene Floyd (Raymond's sister) and I went to the local mall to relax. While at one of the major department stores, I saw a wide brimmed hat that was for sale. I tried it on, and I thought it looked great. Being that it was on sale, and that no women ever pass up something they like on sale, I bought it. I went home and showed Marlene, and she thought it looked great too! The rest is history. I wore it to that Dallas tournament and received lots of positive responses from fans and my fellow players. So I bought another hat, and then another, and then another. Then I started matching my outfits to my hats and the hat became readily identifiable with me. Today I still have over 500 different wide brimmed hats at home. Footjoy even made golf shoes to match my hats for me! A couple of years ago, I was in a parking lot at a golf course and up walked Bill Murray from Caddyshack fame. Before saying hello or any other type of greeting he said, "Where's your skull"? He was surprised that I wasn't wearing a hat and teased me that he had never seen me before without one on. However that's not true. More often than not, due to wind or poor weather, I can't wear the big hat. So, as a strong substitute I had logo prepared and had it embroidered on baseball caps (like in the photo above). So in a way I always had my wide brimmed hat with me! Perhaps you will join me in wearing one of these nice balls caps! 100% of the proceeds got to the Michelle McGann Fund. Blue or white are available! Hats are $21.95 + $6.75 shipping and handling.
